Pathway for Local Talent

With so many registered players across all levels of the game, the South Coast has a rich vein of talent to tap into. The establishment of a South Coast based team in the Hyundai A-League will provide the pinnacle for this vast network of football players and administrators, setting in place a clear pathway for the wealth of young talent, male and female, which this region continues to produce.
In creating a visible peak to football in our region, via this network or 'Football Pyramid', close alignment between football associations across all levels will ensure they remain engaged stakeholders in the success of football on the South Coast. This 'best practice' approach looks to further the development of not only players, but also officials, coaches and support staff.
This philosophy is best represented by the illustration above. This model recognises the South Coast A-League club at the pinnacle of the football pyramid, but with a clear, stepped path to success. Importantly, it also shows that the club is part of a much bigger picture, where all levels of football will work together to ensure mutual success and support.
Importantly, this model also recognises both men's and women's football, with the latter considered as a core, and critical element in the success of football on the South Coast - both at a senior and junior level.
With the FFA recently launching its National Football Development Plan, aimed at "... making Australia a World Leader in the World Game..." the South Coast is well equipped to realise this whole of sport approach. Based on our strategic pillar of 'Football Excellence', strategies for player attraction and development, quality coaching and support staff is already in place, to ensure success from a grassroots level, right to the very top.
